Brunette Gray Blending & Gray Coverage
FAQ

What do you specialize in?
I specialize in brunette hair color, gray blending, gray coverage, dimensional brunette color, and natural-looking results for brunettes who want softer grow-out and hair that does not look flat, harsh, overly dark, or artificial.

Who are you best suited for?
I am best suited for brunettes, typically in their mid-30s to mid-60s, who are starting to gray or already have gray hair and want a softer, more natural way of wearing their color. My clients usually want dimension, softness, shine, and believable color that fits their lifestyle. They do not want chunky highlights, stripey color, trendy blonde looks, or high-maintenance hair that falls apart after a few weeks.

What is gray blending?
Gray blending is a softer, more customized way of working with gray hair. Sometimes that means keeping your natural brunette base and adding custom highlights with a toner so the gray becomes part of the overall look. Other times it means using a softer demi or semi-permanent color that does not create solid opaque coverage, but instead gives the gray a more translucent, blended result. The goal is softer grow-out, less contrast, and a more natural finish.

What is gray coverage?
Gray coverage is for the guest who wants to cover gray more directly and does not want to see the gray. This can be done with permanent color or demi-permanent color depending on your goals, the amount of gray you have, and how much softness or longevity you want.

How do I know if I need gray blending or gray coverage?
That depends on how much gray you have, how quickly your regrowth bothers you, how often you want to come in, and whether you want to soften your gray or cover it more fully. Some guests want to camouflage and soften. Others want to minimize or fully cover. During your consultation, we decide what fits your short-term goals, long-term goals, and maintenance comfort level.

Will gray blending make me blonde?
No. My approach is designed for brunettes who do not want to become blonde just to soften gray. I create dimension within brunette tones so your hair still feels rich, soft, and natural. You can have brightness, movement, and softness without looking blonde, brassy, dry, or stripy.

What makes your brunette color different?
I understand the brunette client who says, “I want to be light but dark.” Brunette hair is not just one flat level. It can hold warmth, coolness, softness, richness, and dimension without losing its identity. I work with brunette tones in a way that keeps the color believable, soft, and closer to your natural depth when possible, which helps the grow-out stay more seamless and natural.

Which service should I book as a new guest?
The safest option for most new guests is the Brunette Experience. This gives us the time to talk through your goals, maintenance needs, hair history, color history, and inspiration photos so I can create a customized plan for both your first visit and future visits.

Should I book a consultation first?
A consultation is always a great option, especially if you are unsure whether you want gray blending or gray coverage, have used box color, or have a longer color history. If you would rather go ahead and reserve time, the Brunette Experience is usually the best place to start.

What should I bring or know before my first appointment?
Inspiration photos are very helpful. I also need to know your hair color history, home care routine, any salon treatments you have had, and whether you have used box color. The more I know, the better I can customize your formula and service plan.

How often will I need maintenance?
Maintenance depends on the technique we choose and your goals. In general, most guests are looking at visits every 6 to 12 weeks. Some gray coverage guests may prefer a shorter schedule, while some gray blending guests can go longer. My goal is always to help you choose the approach that gives you beautiful hair and a maintenance routine that feels realistic for your life.

I’m tired of seeing gray regrowth after just a few weeks. Can you help with that?
Yes. That is one of the biggest reasons clients come to me. Many brunettes are frustrated by a harsh line of demarcation between their gray regrowth and darker color. My work is designed to soften that contrast so the grow-out looks more seamless, less obvious, and more forgiving.

My hair looks dull, dry, or too dark. Can brunette color still look soft?
Yes. Brunette hair can absolutely look dimensional, reflective, shiny, and soft. It does not have to look flat, heavy, or opaque. The right brunette tones, placement, and maintenance plan make a big difference.

Do you do blonde balayage, fashion colors, extensions, or color corrections?
No. I do not specialize in blonde transformations, trendy fashion colors, extensions, or color corrections. I specialize in brunettes with gray who want gray blending, gray coverage, dimensional brunette color, and soft, natural-looking results.

What is the salon experience like?
I work in a private one-on-one suite and do not double book. The space is calm, personalized, and relaxing, with soft classical music, light essential oil aromas, and treatments designed to help you feel cared for. My guests often tell me they love how peaceful the space feels and how much time I take to listen and truly understand what they want.

What do your clients love most about working with you?
Clients often tell me they love how natural their hair looks, how relaxing the experience feels, and how heard they feel during the consultation. They also say they appreciate that I listen, personalize the service, and truly care about helping them find the right approach for their hair.

How should I prepare for my appointment?
Please arrive about 5 to 10 minutes early so we have time to settle in and begin your consultation. If you are having color, please avoid wearing favorite clothing. If you are coming in for a haircut, please avoid bulky sweaters, hoodies, or turtlenecks.

What is your cancellation and late policy?
Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 48 hours before your visit. I allow a 15-minute grace period if you are running late, but please let me know as soon as possible. If you no-show twice without contacting me, online booking access may be removed.

Do you offer refunds or adjustments?
Retail products may be returned within 30 days. Hair services are non-refundable. If you have a concern with your hair, please contact me within 1 to 2 weeks of your appointment so I can review it with you. After 2 weeks, any changes would be considered a new service.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I use Square and accept all major credit cards, Cash App, and Afterpay.

Where are you located?

I am located inside Sola Salon Studios at 530 W. Huntington Dr., Suite 40, Monrovia, CA 91016.
